0.         Introduction

La salud sexual y reproductiva es un estado general de bienestar físico, mental y social, en todos los aspectos relacionados con el sistema reproductivo, sus funciones y sus procesos. En otras palabras, es la capacidad de las personas de disfrutar de una vida sexual y reproductiva satisfactoria, saludable y sin riesgos, con la absoluta libertad para decidir procrear o no hacerlo, cuándo y con qué frecuencia. Esta condición lleva implícito el derecho de las personas a recibir información, consejería, acceso a servicios de planificación familiar y anticoncepción y a los métodos anticonceptivos de su elección, seguros y eficaces.

Sexual and reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system, its functions, and its processes. In other words, it is the ability of individuals to enjoy a satisfying, healthy, and safe sexual and reproductive life, with the absolute freedom to decide whether or not to have children, when, and how often. This condition implies the right of individuals to receive information, counseling, access to family planning and contraception services, and the safe and effective contraceptive methods of their choice.
