Objeto de la Ley y Disposiciones Generales

Purpose of the Law and General Provisions

Artículo 1. La presente Ley es reglamentaria del artículo 4o., párrafo octavo, de la Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos en materia del derecho humano al acceso, disposición y saneamiento del agua para consumo personal y doméstico; establece las bases, apoyos y modalidades para su acceso, uso equitativo y sustentable de los recursos hídricos; su interdependencia con otros derechos humanos; distribuye competencias y establece los casos de concurrencia entre la Federación, entidades federativas y municipios.

Article 1. This Law is regulatory ordinance of Article 4, eighth paragraph, of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States regarding the human right to access, availability and sanitation of water for personal and domestic consumption; it establishes the criteria, support and modalities for its access, equitable and sustainable use of water resources; its interdependence with other human rights; it distributes powers and establishes the cases of concurrence between the Federation, states and Mexico City and municipios.
