REFORM TO LGEEPA - GENERAL LAW OF ECOLOGICAL EQUILIBRIUM AND THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT

LGEEPA – REFORM PUBLISHED DOF ON MARCH 29, 2022 – EFFECTIVE DATE MARCH 30, 2022.

This reform adds a definition for NOISE POLLUTION in the Definitions section of the Law.

It grants monitoring power to the States, Municipalities and the Federal Government.

It states that within 30 days SEMARNAT must initiate the process of developing a NOM (Official Mexican Standard) to regulate Noise Pollution. Currently Noise pollution and the permissible noise levels are covered by NOM-081-SEMARNAT-1994. The NOM-081-SEMARNAT-1994 was reformed on Dec. 3, 2013 to include new lowered noise limits and limits at night and for industrial installations close to residential areas. The translation of NOM-081-SEMARNAT-1994 that we offer is up to date with that important reform.
