1. Objective and field of application

La presente Norma Oficial Mexicana establece la información comercial en los productos textiles, prendas de vestir, sus accesorios y ropa de casa.

This Official Mexican Standard establishes the commercial information on textile products, clothing, their accessories and household linens.

La información comercial a que se refiere la presente Norma Oficial Mexicana, es aplicable a los productos textiles, prendas de vestir, sus accesorios y ropa de casa antes de su internación al país, elaborados con materiales textiles aun cuando contengan plásticos u otros materiales y que se destinen al consumidor final y que se comercialicen dentro del territorio de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

The commercial information referred to in this Official Mexican Standard is applicable to textile products, clothing, their accessories and household linens before entering the country, made with textile materials even when they contain plastics or other materials and that are intended for the final consumer and are commercially distributed within the territory of the United Mexican States.

El etiquetado de los productos textiles, prendas de vestir, sus accesorios y ropa de casa comprende cinco rubros importantes:

The labeling of textile products, clothing, their accessories and household linens comprises five important items:

I.          La información del responsable del producto.

I The information of the person responsible for the product.

II.        País de origen.

II. Country of origin.

III.       La composición de fibras (descripción de insumos).

III. The composition of fibers (description of inputs).

IV.        Las instrucciones de cuidado (conservación y limpieza).

IV. Care instructions (conservation and cleaning).

V.         Las tallas de las prendas y dimensiones o medidas en la ropa de casa y textiles.

V. The sizes of garments and dimensions or measurements in household linens and textiles.

La presente Norma Oficial Mexicana es aplicable al responsable del producto objeto de esta norma.

This Official Mexican Standard is applicable to the person responsible for the product object of this standard.

La presente Norma Oficial Mexicana es aplicable a los productos textiles, prendas de vestir, sus accesorios y ropa de casa, cuya composición textil sea igual o superior al 50% con relación a la masa.

This Official Mexican Standard is applicable to textile products, clothing, their accessories and household linens, whose textile composition is equal to or greater than 50% in relation to the mass.

Esta Norma Oficial Mexicana no aplica a cobertores eléctricos, pañales desechables, toallas sanitarias, hisopos, toallitas húmedas, cubrebocas quirúrgicos, prendas de vestir desechables, juguetes confeccionados con materiales textiles, disfraces, muebles, extensibles de reloj de material textil, cordones textiles, correas, correas porta gafete de material textil, porta gafetes, escudos, parches, banderas, cierres y/o cremalleras, botones y hebillas forrados de material textil, paños, guantes para retirar fuentes del horno, estuches para maquillajes, fibras de limpieza desechables y los destinados a utilizarse como envase o embalaje,  además de insumos industriales que se destinen a la fabricación de bienes así como aquellos que no se destinen al consumidor final, tales como fibras y/o filamentos, hilos, telas tejidas y no tejidas, pasamanería, trapos mutilados o picados, recortes de tela que se empleen para la fabricación industrial de los productos objeto de esta norma y a textiles técnicos que se utilicen en otras industrias, tales como filtros, cintas adhesivas con base textil, sujetadores mecánicos, borlas, estopa, discos abrasivos o bien se encuentre regulada su información comercial por otra Norma Oficial Mexicana específica.

This Official Mexican Standard does not apply to electric blankets, disposable diapers, sanitary napkins, swabs, wet wipes, surgical masks, disposable clothing, toys made of textile materials, costumes, furniture, textile watch bands, textile cords, straps, textile material badge holder straps, badge holders, shields, patches, flags, closures and/or zippers, buttons and buckles covered in textile material, cloths, gloves for removing  items from the oven, makeup cases, disposable cleaning fibers and those items intended to be used as a container or packaging, in addition to industrial supplies intended for the manufacture of goods as well as those that are not intended for the final consumer, such as fibers and/or filaments, threads, woven and non-woven fabrics, trimmings, rags mutilated or minced, fabric clippings used for the industrial manufacture of the products covered by this standard and technical textiles that are used in other industries, such as filters, textile-based adhesive tapes, mechanical fasteners, tassels, tow, abrasive discs or their commercial information is regulated by another specific Official Mexican Standard.
